ILLUMINAE album recording update

It’s been a very busy and enjoyable few weeks in the studio working on the new ILLUMINAE album. Great to be immersed in the production and hearing the songs develop with all the tracks now in an advanced stage of recording. Agnieszka has been doing some great work on vocal arrangements and has been in the studio to start laying down the vocal tracks. We’re really excited by the album! Luke Machin recently finished recording his guitar parts for the album – some really special moments there. We’ll be bringing you more ILLUMINAE updates soon.

 

ILLUMINAE – Luke Machin

Illuminae special guest guitarist Luke Machin has been in the studio recording some great guitar parts for the debut album.

Luke was recently voted one of the top guitarists in the Prog magazine Best Guitarist poll.

Gonzalo Carrera rejoins KARNATAKA

I’m very pleased to announce that Gonzalo Carrera, the band’s keyboard player on The Gathering Light album, has rejoined KARNATAKA.

Gonzalo is an incredibly gifted musician with a deep appreciation and feel for Karnataka’s music. We enjoyed a great musical partnership during our collaboration on The Gathering Light and we’re looking forward to continuing this on the new material we’ve started work on.

During his time away from the band, Gonzalo has worked with a number of artists including Steve Hackett, Huw Lloyd Langton (Hawkwind), Peter Banks (Yes), John Helliwell (Supertramp), drummer/producer and Grammy award winner Narada Michael Walden and has also been collaborating with Jon Anderson on his Piano Works project.

Gonzalo said “It’s wonderful to be back in Karnataka, it feels like coming home as we’ve always shared a great friendship and musical chemistry, It’s great to be writing music together again”

We’re really excited by the new ideas we’ve started collaborating on – it feels like we have some unfinished business!  We’re looking forward to making further announcements soon.

ILLUMINAE album bass recording

I’ve been having a great time working on and recording the bass parts for the new Illuminae album – made even more enjoyable by having some great drumming to work to courtesy of Craig Blundell.  It’s always an interetsing phase moving from the demo tracks to the full production, and it’s the first chance I’ve had to put my Corvette $$ though it’s studio paces. Love the tones I’m getting out of this.

ILLUMINAE album update

We recently finished a great week of recording drums with Craig Blundell for the new ILLUMINAE album. All the drums for the album are now finished, beautifully played by Craig and sounding superb. This gives us the best possible platform to build on the production.

TROY DONOCKLEY (NIGHTWISH) SPECIAL GUEST ON ILLUMINAE ALBUM

Good friend and musician extraordinaire Troy Donockley (Nightwish) has recorded some beautiful Uilleann pipes and low whistles for a track (Lullaby) on the new Illuminae album currently in production. Troy has previously played on Karnataka albums ‘The Gathering Light’ and ‘Secrets of Angels’ – he never fails to bring a touch of magic to everything he plays on… and this is no exception.
